Sunderland have not lost at home to Spurs for 9 years. Tottenham record in the North-East is notoriously bad. Tottenham however have shown better away form this season with good wins away at Hull, Stoke and Blackburn. Spurs record against lower league teams away from home has been what has prevented them from breaking into the top 4 in years gone by.
For todays bet of the day I am going to back Sunderland.
The following reasons have contributed to my thinking!
- Poor Spurs record at Stadium of Light
- Crippling injury list at Spurs and Palacios who is vital to Spurs especially away from home is doubtful
- Sunderland include many Spurs rejects with points to prove
- Spurs will have 1 eye on their FA Cup semi final next week
- Sunderland dominated Spurs at WHL earlier this season (even if they did lose!)
- Extra pressure on Spurs as they look for 4th position
- Sunderland unbeaten in last 8 at SOL
Spurs used to rely a lot on Lennon's pace to create chances as apart from Defoe pace is something lacking in the Spurs squad. Lennon's pace was a real miss to Tottenham but their recent good form as coincidence to Bale finally being given a run in the Spurs team. I feel Bruce will be savvy enough to nulify the threat from Bale to some extent. Unlike Allardyce a few weeks ago when he put Bale up against his slowest player Salgado, oops!
Go with the 14/5 offered by Coral for Sunderland to win, I feel this represents great value and is my recommended bet of the day!

Manchester City V Wigan Athletic
My bet of the day is back over 2.5 goals as there will be goals in this game. Manchester City cannot afford to lose in their bid to come 4th this season. Coming off the back of a defeat to Everton means Manchester City need to perform. A home game against Wigan who have a habit of conceding lots of goals is something that the Manchester City players will be relishing.
Wigan average nearly 2.5 goals conceded in their games this season and let in 9 to City's rival Spurs earlier this year. Manchester City themselves average 2 goals a game at home. I feel night games always seem to yield more attacking games too!
You can get 13/16 at Betfair for backing over 2.5 goals. Make this your bet of the day!

Bangladesh V England 2nd Test Match Cricket Bet of the Day
Bangladesh took a thrashing in the 1st Test Match and I do not think things are going to improve much for them.
Todays bet of the day tip is Graeme Swann to be England's top wicket taker in the Test match. Swann is at 7/4 with Blue Square. Englands bowling line up is not particularly strong so expect Swann to be doing most of the bowling! The pitch is expected to be flat again and not likely to help the quicker bowlers and with the intense heat the quicker bowlers spells and amount they can bowl will be reduced!

Fulham V Juventus - Europa League
With Juventus 3-1 up and away from home I cannot see them looking to be too adventurous this evening. They are missing there 2 top choice goalkeepers so I feel they will be looking to protect what they have.
Fulham need to score but I do not rate their forward lineup especially with no Murphy pulling the strings in field!
I will look to back under 2.5 goals. Currently this is 6/7 with

Barcelona V Stuttgart Champions League
Stuttgart probably blew any chance they had in the first leg. Barcelona are the best team in the competition and at home are virtually unbeatable.
I feel Barcelona will overcome Stuttgart easily tonight. I cannot really see Stuttgart scoring so I recommend backing 3-0 or 4-0 tonight at 15/2 and 12/1 respectively. Also I will be backing Barcelona Half Time/Full Time at 4/6.
