Sunderland V Tottenham Bet Of The Day

Sunderland have not lost at home to Spurs for 9 years. Tottenham record in the North-East is notoriously bad. Tottenham however have shown better away form this season with good wins away at Hull, Stoke and Blackburn. Spurs record against lower league teams away from home has been what has prevented them from breaking into the top 4 in years gone by.

For todays bet of the day I am going to back Sunderland.

The following reasons have contributed to my thinking!

- Poor Spurs record at Stadium of Light
- Crippling injury list at Spurs and Palacios who is vital to Spurs especially away from home is doubtful
- Sunderland include many Spurs rejects with points to prove
- Spurs will have 1 eye on their FA Cup semi final next week
- Sunderland dominated Spurs at WHL earlier this season (even if they did lose!)
- Extra pressure on Spurs as they look for 4th position
- Sunderland unbeaten in last 8 at SOL

Spurs used to rely a lot on Lennon's pace to create chances as apart from Defoe pace is something lacking in the Spurs squad. Lennon's pace was a real miss to Tottenham but their recent good form as coincidence to Bale finally being given a run in the Spurs team. I feel Bruce will be savvy enough to nulify the threat from Bale to some extent. Unlike Allardyce a few weeks ago when he put Bale up against his slowest player Salgado, oops!

Go with the 14/5 offered by Coral for Sunderland to win, I feel this represents great value and is my recommended bet of the day!
